Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) Project
What is AIMS?
Advancing Innovative Manufacturing in the South of Scotland (AIMS) is an initiative supporting both businesses and individuals across Dumfries and Galloway. Driven by Industry 4.0, the ongoing automation of traditional manufacturing and industrial processes using modern technology, AIMS promotes innovation and regional economic growth.
Operating from Dumfries and Galloway College (Dumfries Campus), we work with and support both businesses and individual skill seekers across 5 key themes: additive manufacturing, computer programming, CNC machining, collaborative and autonomous robots and welding.
We work with businesses from a wide range of sectors throughout the region to provide technical support and training. Please refer to our Business Support Document for detailed examples of the benefits and specialised applications of AIMS support.
We also upskill and offer career inspiration to individuals aged *19-67 in the form of accredited courses across our 5 themes. The AIMS Project is looking to attract a new audience to Engineering and Manufacturing, and is actively engaging with local communities to inspire, inform and provide opportunities to learn and progress or kickstart their career.
Through innovation, collaboration, and education, AIMS is building a future-ready manufacturing sector in the South of Scotland.
*we can support 16-18 years olds at risk of a negative post school destination.
